I completely agree with Mani Shankar Aiyar on this that as per Nehru's vission the panchayats should have created model villages and not MPs #JLN125
If we really want to see resurgent rural India then the only way out is decentralization. However, off late all we have been experiencing in India is more centralization.
The adoption of one village for converting the same as a model village by one MP will at most cover some 800 odd villages out of some 6,38,596 (census of India 2001).
Isn't this mere tokenism and photo opportunity?
